Dr Tanya Meares has worked as a mixed animal veterinarian since graduating with honours from the University of Qld in 1998.
She has been trimming, shoeing and booting her horses for the last 20 years and in 2014, began further formal education in hoof care. Tanya became a certified barefoot trimmer with ACEHP and has attended numerous veterinary conferences on equine endocrine disease and hoof pathology. Tanya has attended pathology and glue on shoe workshops with Daisy Bicking (Daisy Haven Farm) and completed the EPC solutions Advanced Podiatry course. Through this course she has also met Dr “Tookie” Myers DVM, Farrier who has been able to mentor her in complex hoof cases.
Tanya’s passion is helping horses improve their comfort, capabilities and longevity. Tanya qualified in animal acupuncture (IVAS) in 2002 and equine massage (Equinology) in 2003. Tanya enjoys hiking and riding her own horses. She is a qualified endurance rider with a Tom Quilty buckle.
